Characteristics of a Persuasive Educational System: A Systematic Literature Review

The need to compete for users’ attention and provide them with the best user experience has increased use of persuasion strategies in modern systems. Currently, Persuasive Systems (PSs) promote healthy behavior well-being, energy consumption, learning. Although educational domain limited investigation compared other areas, PSs education have been shown be effective motivating students. This paper summarizes existing evidence on Educational (PESs), emphasizing research current design methods, evaluation characteristics. We follow Kitchenham’s method perform a systematic literature review about PESs published between 2014 2020, 19 relevant studies selected. highlight some results from analysis selected papers such as strategies, personalized technique, study students’ susceptibility integration gamification mechanisms, proposed tools PES. Moreover, we discuss interesting facts common practice using more than one tool PES, aspects interaction, persuasion, learning, challenges evaluating persuasive impact. Finally, main contribution identify seven necessary characteristics build system.
